The Alliances Field Engineer at Canonical supports partner companies in adopting and integrating open source technologies like Ubuntu, Kubernetes, and OpenStack, by providing technical expertise, solution architecture, and joint go-to-market strategies in a remote, global role.
Key Responsibilities
Support partners in adopting Canonical's open source technologies and solutions.
Architect and integrate cloud infrastructure solutions such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark in on-premises or public cloud environments.
Help partners design and implement joint solutions utilizing Canonical's products on public clouds and data centers.
Create and publish reference architectures and perform technical validations with partners.
Conduct onboarding sessions and workshops to promote Canonical products and solutions.
Provide expert technical support and well-informed answers to customer and partner inquiries.
Assist in defining joint go-to-market programs with business leaders and partners.
Requirements
Extensive experience with Linux Ubuntu preferred, including Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation.
Experience designing and implementing solutions on top of public or private clouds.
Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting, with troubleshooting skills.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
High motivation, ability to multi-task, and reliably follow-up on commitments.
Interest in customer-facing engagement, including pitching, demonstrating, and understanding customer environment and needs.
Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju, and Snaps.
Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
Understanding of Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments.
Ability to architect cloud infrastructure solutions such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Ability to architect and integrate popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX.
Ability to help partners offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical’s technologies on top of public clouds and in data centers.
Experience in designing and publishing joint Reference Architectures and performing technical validations with various partners.
Experience in preparing and running onboarding sessions and workshops with partner teams to promote Canonical products and solutions.
