Job Description
An entry-level telecommunications engineering position involving the preparation of construction documents, system design, site visits, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team on projects across various sectors such as education, healthcare, and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in preparing construction documents and specifications for telecommunications systems.
- Assist in designing telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, and commercial clients under supervision.
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
- Gather information to respond to RFIs and review change orders.
- Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in a relevant field by hire date required.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification preferred.
- Related student internship work experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Navisworks, or similar applications preferred.
- Participates in the preparation of construction documents and basic specifications of telecommunications systems for building construction.
- May design telecommunication systems for healthcare, education higher education, and commercial clients, including fire alarm systems per applicable codes, under supervision.
- Develop ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems with engineering oversight.
- Develop knowledge of applicable codes for the application of telecommunication design under supervision.
- Assist in reviewing and marking up shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Assist in visiting job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
- Must be able to perform site visits which frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
