Job Description
This position involves supporting a multidisciplinary engineering team in designing, analyzing, and documenting structural systems for various building types, under the supervision of a licensed engineer, with responsibilities including calculations, BIM modeling, and site observations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze structural systems for various building types under supervision
- Perform design calculations using engineering software
- Create BIM models and produce Contract Documents including plans, sections, details, and specifications
- Coordinate structural systems with overall building design with the design team
- Review shop drawings during construction
- Conduct field observations and site walkthroughs during construction
Requirements
- Master in Civil Engineering with Structural focus, Master in Structural Engineering or Master of Architectural Engineering Structural emphasis from an ABET accredited program is required by hire date.
- Related student internship work experience preferred.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) and LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, RAM, RISA required.
- Willingness to perform overtime work.
- Ability to develop new or analyze existing structural systems for institutional, sports, and corporate commercial buildings under supervision.
- Ability to perform design calculations under direct supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Ability to use relevant engineering software to design and document structural systems.
- Ability to develop BIM models using Autodesk Revit for producing Contract Documents.
- Assist in production of Contract Documents including foundation plans, floor framing plans, roof plans, sections, details, and specifications.
- Interface effectively with members of the design team to coordinate structural systems with overall building design.
- Assist in review of shop drawings during construction phase.
- May perform field observations during construction phase, including a physical walk through of site.
