Job Description

This position is a senior project management role focused on leading large-scale design projects, managing client relationships, overseeing project teams, ensuring quality and compliance, and driving business development within an architectural or engineering firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop client relationships to secure future opportunities
  • Manage project teams to achieve quality, budget, schedule, and profitability goals
  • Oversee design, documentation, and construction process implementation
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and quality assurance/quality control standards
  • Develop and manage project work plans, budgets, and schedules using tools like MS Project and Deltek
  • Identify and mitigate project risks through risk management planning
  • Coordinate workload and provide leadership, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
  • Facilitate effective communication of client objectives and project progress to team and stakeholders

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related degree required.
  • Minimum of 12 years related experience, including managing projects with construction budgets of 70 million dollars or more.
  • Experience working on education projects required.
  • Current Licensure preferred.
  • LEED certification preferred.
  • Capability of performing in a project management role for large or multiple projects and training project managers.
  • Strong client leadership and project team management capability for large or multiple projects.
  • Must possess strong business acumen.
  • Ability to perform as a leader of authority, with expert level knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills, and the ability to build rapport with the project team and client.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, MS Project, Deltek Vision, Bluebeam, and other data management software.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to communicate design, construction, and other issues to clients in a clear and compelling way.
  • Ability to develop a Partnering relationship with the client early in an engagement to establish shared expectations and provide clarity on how work will be performed, stakeholder involvement, and key decision timing.
  • Ability to ensure appropriate client and internal communication including written project documentation.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and nurture successful partnering relationships with clients to generate future opportunities.
  • Ability to understand contractual obligations to ensure the team delivers on scope of work and required services.
  • Proactive in working with the client to identify and obtain approvals for scope of work or services prior to undertaking the work.
  • Proactive in communicating with and influencing clients to approve and process payables for services.
  • Ability to lead project teams to develop project goals and work plans, and achieve quality, budget, schedule, innovation, and profitability objectives.
  • Experience managing design and documentation processes and implementation during construction.
  • Ability to maintain project records, including documenting key decisions within the standard file structure.
  • Accountability for risk mitigation and compliance, including developing and managing a risk management plan.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members and generate a positive team environment.
  • Ability to implement company methods, best practices, standards, tools, templates, and technology to achieve service quality and team productivity.
  • Experience managing and coordinating team workload and providing leadership of team activities.
  • Ability to communicate client objectives clearly to team members and provide constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Ability to identify and share lessons learned with teams.
  • Proactive resource in decision-making processes and in developing technically sound and innovative planning and design solutions.
  • Ability to monitor work in progress and ensure adherence to best practice standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all statutory requirements are achieved for the project.
  • Accountability for the QA/QC process and monitoring the technical quality of projects, including enforcing standards and requirements.
  • Active participation in the QA/QC process and coordination with the Project Architect and Quality leader.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with other project leadership, Business Practice Leader, and Legal Team.
  • Ability to mentor less experienced staff and train other project managers.
  • Must be able to perform in a project management role for large or multiple projects and train project managers.
