The Smart Building Consultant leads the planning, design, and implementation of integrated technology solutions for complex building environments, ensuring smart building strategies align with operational goals and client needs throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning, design, and delivery of integrated smart building technology solutions
Facilitate stakeholder workshops to define project vision and use cases
Develop technical roadmaps and translate operational goals into smart building strategies
Create and coordinate smart building Basis of Design documents with multidisciplinary teams
Develop system integration strategies and detailed design requirements for various building technologies
Support vendor selection by developing RFPs and evaluating proposals
Oversee project execution, review submittals, and coordinate system integration during implementation
Support user acceptance testing and resolve issues prior to system handover
Provide post-occupancy support, including onboarding and operational KPI setup
Guide clients in long-term system upgrades, use case expansion, and continuous improvement
Requirements
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Systems, Mechanical, Computer, Technology, or related discipline required.
Minimum 5 years of experience delivering smart building, technology integration, or digital infrastructure projects required.
Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of technology within the built environment.
Familiarity with building systems and digital technologies such as Building Management Systems (BMS), Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), access control, scheduling, environmental monitoring, IoT platforms devices, and user experience tools.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and multiple stakeholders.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience engaging diverse client audiences from operations teams to IT directors.
Ability to develop technical requirements, interface diagrams, and deliverables aligned with regulatory, compliance, and security standards.
Experience with procurement processes and vendor coordination.
Willingness to travel for key client meetings and site visits.
