A senior-level specification writer and architectural specialist responsible for creating and managing technical specifications for complex building projects across various sectors, collaborating with project teams, mentoring staff, and supporting firm standards and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Write architectural specifications for complex projects across various building types.
Produce Project Manuals and author architectural sections for inclusion.
Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and milestones.
Review and revise technical specifications and project drawings for coordination and completeness.
Develop and improve master specifications, including sustainable and regional content.
Mentor less experienced specification writers and coordinate with project disciplines.
Assist during Construction Administration with shop drawing and product substitution reviews.
Participate in firm-wide standards development and best practices sharing.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
Support sustainability initiatives within the firm.
Requirements
Bachelor degree required in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related field; Master degree preferred.
A minimum of 8 years of related experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry, which must include a minimum of five (5) or more years of specifications writing experience.
Current Architectural or Engineering license preferred.
CSI certification required; CCS certification also preferred.
Advanced knowledge in discipline and focused areas including project delivery methods.
Detailed understanding of Contracts and relationship to Division 00 01.
Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required.
Ability to perform Coordination QA QC across disciplines.
Experience with Engineering Specifications is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office, including Teams and OneNote, as well as BlueBeam Revu.
Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and MS Lists is preferred.
Familiarity with specification editing software is required; proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit is preferred.
