Job Description
A senior-level specification writer and architectural specialist responsible for creating and managing technical specifications for complex building projects across various sectors, collaborating with project teams, mentoring staff, and supporting sustainable design initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Write architectural specifications for complex projects across various building types.
- Produce and edit Project Manuals and architectural sections using specification software.
- Coordinate project specifications with other disciplines and review drawings for technical accuracy.
- Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and milestones throughout project phases.
- Mentor and educate less experienced specification writers and coordinators.
- Develop and improve master specifications, including sustainable and regional content.
- Participate in project meetings and support during Construction Administration (CA) phase.
- Develop relationships with vendors and stay informed of industry standards and resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree required in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related field; Master degree preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry, which must include a minimum of five (5) or more years of specifications writing experience.
- Current Architectural or Engineering license preferred.
- CSI certification required; CCS certification also preferred.
- Advanced knowledge in discipline and focused areas including project delivery methods.
- Detailed understanding of Contracts and relationship to Division 00 01.
- Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required.
- Ability to perform Coordination QA QC across disciplines.
- Experience with Engineering Specifications is a plus.
- Must possess business acumen, be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Teams and OneNote, as well as BlueBeam Revu.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and MS Lists is preferred.
- Familiarity with specification editing software is required; proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit is preferred.
