This role involves writing and managing technical specifications for complex architectural projects across various building types, collaborating with project teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting sustainable design initiatives within a dynamic design firm.
Key Responsibilities
Write specifications for complex projects across various building types.
Produce Project Manuals and author architectural sections for inclusion in the manuals.
Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and deliverables across different project phases.
Coordinate project manuals with other disciplines and review project-specific keynotes.
Review drawings to ensure complete and coordinated technical specifications, suggesting improvements.
Develop and improve master specifications, including content for sustainability and regional conditions.
Attend industry conferences and participate in progress meetings.
Educate and mentor less experienced staff on specification content.
Assist during Construction Administration phase with shop drawing and product substitution reviews.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and support firm’s sustainability goals.
Requirements
Bachelor degree required in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related field; Master degree preferred.
A minimum of 6 years of related experience in the architecture, engineering or construction industry, including at least 3 years of specifications writing experience.
Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required.
Understanding of Contracts and relationship to Division 00 01 is required.
Ability to perform Coordination QA QC across disciplines.
Must possess business acumen, be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, collaboration and conflict resolution skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, MS One Note, and BlueBeam Revu is required.
Familiarity with specification editing software is required; proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit is preferred.
Current Architectural or Engineering license is preferred.
CSI certification is preferred.
