Job Description

This role involves leading and managing large, complex architectural projects, overseeing technical and production teams, ensuring design and construction quality, and coordinating all phases from design through construction administration to deliver innovative, sustainable, and compliant building solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical aspects of large, complex projects from pre-design through completion
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of project teams, including Project Architects, engineers, and interior designers
  • Develop and implement technical content and documentation strategies aligned with project goals
  • Collaborate with project managers to establish work plans, schedules, and budgets ensuring project success
  • Guide the development and execution of project quality plans and technical reviews
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and contractual obligations throughout all project phases
  • Translate design intent into technical documentation and construction phases
  • Integrate building performance and sustainable design goals into project solutions
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary disciplines to maintain design integrity and technical accuracy
  • Oversee construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittals
  • Mentor and train team members to uphold technical quality and process standards

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of related architectural experience required.
  • Experience includes at least 5 years in increasingly responsible roles in construction documentation on institutional and/or commercial projects.
  • At least 3 years in a responsible role in construction administration on large institutional or commercial projects with more than 250 million dollars in construction value.
  • Previous experience managing production teams of 10 or more on projects of more than 250 million dollars in construction costs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
  • Current Architectural Registration in the United States required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Demonstrated focus on quality.
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes and zoning requirements.
  • Exceptional team and client leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Extensive technical knowledge.
  • Exceptional coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software is required.
  • Must have the ability to perform on-site presence at client meetings and in-office team meetings as needed.
  • Must be able to lead and coordinate all disciplines with the architectural design intent during all project phases, including design, documentation, and construction administration.
  • Must be able to review and lead the execution of documentation strategies, technical quality, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Must be able to guide and assist project team members in developing Project Quality Plans, Life Safety, Building and Energy Code analysis, and compliance processes.
  • Must be able to lead coordination of all disciplines with the architectural design intent.
  • Must be able to lead the integration of building performance and sustainable design goals into a holistic design solution.
  • Must be able to monitor project documentation and compliance throughout all project phases.
  • Must be able to lead the response to RFIs and submittals during construction administration.
  • Must be able to mentor, train, and direct the work of all project team members focusing on technical quality and process standards.
