This position involves leading the design and oversight of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for large-scale construction and renovation projects across various sectors, providing technical leadership, client interaction, and ensuring project quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee complex ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems in large-scale buildings.
Prepare Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
Specify equipment such as water heaters, plumbing fixtures, and pumps.
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
Lead or participate in value engineering sessions to improve design and project efficiency.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to design team members.
Respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction.
Attend and contribute to project meetings with clients, architects, and contractors.
Manage project work planning, scheduling, and coordination with project team and stakeholders.
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of related experience in engineering design, project management, or a similar field.
Current Professional Engineer (PE) or Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) license in the United States.
Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
Experience in performing complex design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems for large-scale buildings.
Ability to work independently in all Mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
Experience in preparing Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings for plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings.
Experience in specifying equipment such as water heaters, plumbing fixtures, water softeners, and pumping equipment.
Ability to review and accept shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Experience in interface and effective communication with clients and project team members, including participation in Owner, Architect, Construction Administration (OAC) meetings with an understanding of project budget.
Experience in participating or leading value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering teams.
Ability to conduct staff development activities including work planning, budget development, and scheduling in conjunction with the Project Manager.
Experience in responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders during the preparation of construction documents.
Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical site walk-throughs.
Experience in attending and participating in construction meetings.
Ability to represent the company in project activities and business development efforts.
Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
