Job Description
This position involves leading the design and coordination of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for large-scale buildings, providing technical guidance to team members, overseeing project development from schematic to construction phases, and engaging with clients and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and direct complex design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Work independently across all Mechanical disciplines, including assisting with HVAC designs as needed.
- Oversee, guide, mentor, and provide technical leadership to designers and engineering team members.
- Prepare Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
- Specify equipment such as water heaters, plumbing fixtures, and pumping equipment.
- Review and accept shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Participate in value engineering sessions and recommend process improvements.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Attend and participate in construction meetings and interface with clients and project team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) in the United States required.
- Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes required.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude and independence, with no oversight or guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
