Job Description
This position involves leading the design and technical execution of HVAC systems for large-scale buildings, overseeing project teams, ensuring code compliance, and collaborating with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for large-scale buildings
- Perform and lead complex mechanical design tasks independently across disciplines
- Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection system designs as needed
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversee work of junior staff
- Review and approve shop drawings for compliance with specifications
- Create Revit BIM models for construction drawings of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units
- Participate in project meetings, including Owner, Architect, and Construction Administration meetings
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering in the United States required.
- Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes required.
- Ability to work independently in all Mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
