Job Description

This position involves leading the design and technical oversight of HVAC systems for large-scale buildings, including modeling, equipment specification, and project management, within a multidisciplinary engineering team. The role also includes client interaction, site visits, staff mentorship, and contributing to project development and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for large-scale buildings
  • Perform Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units
  • Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents
  • Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including owner, architect, and construction meetings
  • Lead or participate in value engineering sessions to improve project efficiency and quality
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to design team members
  • Respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction
  • Coordinate with clients and project team to ensure project goals and budgets are met
  • Assist with the development of project work plans, budgets, and schedules
  • Represent the company in project activities and business development efforts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States required.
  • Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes required.
  • Ability to work independently in all mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
  • Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
  • Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
