This position involves designing and managing plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for various construction projects, including modeling, specifications, site visits, and client coordination, within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Design and specify ductwork, piping, and equipment for plumbing and fire protection systems.
Assist with HVAC design as needed.
Supervise or manage projects within the mechanical discipline, including monitoring progress and budgets.
Create Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Interface with clients and project team members, attend meetings, and respond to RFIs and change orders.
Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
Coordinate work activities on projects and participate in business development and marketing activities.
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
Current CPD, PE in Mechanical or FPE in the United States preferred.
Experience in performing and directing design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems independently on assigned projects.
Experience in preparing Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings.
Experience in performing Revit BIM modeling for HVAC systems as necessary.
Experience in editing specifications relating to existing or new projects.
Ability to independently research as need arises and respond to emergent issues.
Ability to specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
Experience in reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Experience in interface effectively with clients and members of the project team, attending Owner, Architect, Construction Administration OAC meetings with an understanding and focus on the project budget.
Ability to respond to RFIs and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
Experience conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
Ability to attend and participate in construction meetings.
Ability to coordinate work activities on specific projects with several persons with various levels of capability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
