This role involves designing and managing plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for various construction projects, including new builds and renovations, while coordinating with clients and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design and direct plumbing and fire protection systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection.
Assist with HVAC system design as needed.
Supervise or provide project management within the mechanical discipline, including monitoring project progress and budgets.
Create Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
Participate in construction meetings and interface with clients and project team members.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years of related experience in mechanical design or engineering.
Current Professional Engineer (PE) or Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) license in the United States.
Experience performing and directing design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems independently on assigned projects.
Ability to assist with HVAC designs as necessary.
Experience preparing Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings.
Experience performing Revit BIM modeling for HVAC systems as necessary.
Ability to edit specifications relating to existing or new projects.
Ability to independently research as need arises and respond to emergent issues.
Experience specifying mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
Experience reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Ability to interface effectively with clients and project team members, attend Owner, Architect, Construction Administration (OAC) meetings, and focus on project budget.
Experience responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical site walk-throughs.
Experience attending and participating in construction meetings.
Ability to coordinate work activities on specific projects with several persons at various levels of capability.
Experience participating in business development and marketing activities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
