Job Description
This position involves designing and managing plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for various construction projects, including new builds and renovations, while coordinating with clients and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify ductwork, piping, and equipment for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Assist with HVAC system design as needed.
- Supervise or manage projects within the mechanical discipline, including monitoring progress and budgets.
- Create Revit BIM models of construction drawings for plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
- Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
- Attend and participate in project meetings, including owner, architect, and construction meetings.
- Respond to RFIs and review change orders related to construction documents.
- Coordinate work activities with project team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) in the United States required.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience in mechanical design, while still acquiring higher level knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
