Job Description
The Staff Accountant will support monthly financial close and reporting processes, prepare journal entries, maintain account reconciliations, and assist in financial reporting and financing activities for a clean energy company, contributing to its operational growth and mission to combat climate change.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries for financial close, including prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, debt, and revenue
- Maintain supporting schedules and cash reconciliations for month-end close
- Prepare financial statement reporting packages and deliverables for investors and lenders
- Assist in creating financing packages for construction projects
- Support the accounting team with ad hoc projects and analysis
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in accounting, with public experience preferred
- Working knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability to use standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a structured, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to manage recurring daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities while adapting to shifting priorities
- Sound judgment, strong ownership, and the ability to seek guidance or escalate issues when appropriate
- Understanding of how accurate, timely work supports financial reporting and broader business outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and apply that knowledge to inform business decisions
