Job Description

This position involves designing and modeling HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for various building projects, collaborating with clients and project teams, and overseeing construction phases under the supervision of a licensed engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection, for building projects.
  • Assist with plumbing and fire protection system designs as needed.
  • Calculate heating and cooling loads and develop layouts using energy modeling software.
  • Create Revit BIM models of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from schematic to construction phases.
  • Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
  • Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Interface with clients and project team members through meetings and communication channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • Experience in designing HVAC systems including performing calculations of heating and cooling loads, layout and design of ductwork and piping using energy modeling software.
  • Ability to perform Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of HVAC systems from schematic design to construction administration phases including layout, sketches, and detail drawings.
  • Ability to perform Revit BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection systems as necessary.
  • Experience in editing specifications relating to existing or new projects.
  • Ability to specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
  • Experience performing job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
