Job Description
This role involves developing backend services and APIs for geospatial processing and automation using Esri products, primarily focusing on integrating and extending GIS platforms in cloud and on-premises environments. The position offers opportunities to work on innovative GIS solutions that support defense and intelligence clients, contributing to impactful projects worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Build backend services for geospatial processing, automation, and user-facing features.
- Develop APIs, proxies, and integration services using Node.js and Python.
- Create and maintain backend tooling to extend ArcGIS Enterprise in containerized environments.
- Develop and manage geoprocessing services, automation scripts, and operational workflows.
- Build connectors and ingestion pipelines for diverse enterprise data sources.
- Support deployment of solutions across cloud-native and on-premises environments.
- Improve system reliability and performance through API design, testing, monitoring, and observability.
- Collaborate with platform, DevOps, and GIS teams to translate requirements into production solutions.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Professional experience developing backend services using Python, JavaScript (Node.js), and Java.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs and service-based architectures.
- Experience extending or integrating with ArcGIS Enterprise or similar enterprise geospatial platforms.
- Familiarity with geoprocessing workflows, proxies, middleware services, and automation of GIS or data processing tasks.
- Experience working in containerized environments such as Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
- Solid fundamentals in API design, software system design, testing, debugging, and working with distributed services.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- U.S. citizenship with an Active or Current Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility within the last 2 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a STEM-related field.
