Job Description

This position involves electrical engineering design and project management for building construction projects across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial, with responsibilities such as creating construction documents, overseeing site visits, and leading project teams under the supervision of a licensed engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning sessions and lead as needed
  • Perform electrical systems design for building construction
  • Develop design goals and specify electrical equipment
  • Prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications
  • Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals
  • Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings
  • Guide less experienced team members in drawing execution
  • Respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
  • Experience in electrical engineering systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients.
  • Ability to prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in reviewing and markup of shop drawings and submittals, and responding to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Ability to conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
  • Experience in participating in project teamwork planning sessions and may take a lead role.
  • Ability to initiate project designs, develop design goals and systems, and perform electrical engineering systems design.
  • Experience in specifying electrical equipment.
  • Ability to complete quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
  • Experience in participating in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering teams and recommending improvements to standards and processes.
  • Must possess working knowledge and experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be an independent thinker, analytical, and contribute to process development.
  • EIT or FE certification preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
