Job Description
A Structural Engineer conducts field evaluations of industrial structures, analyzes data, develops models, and designs rehabilitation or replacement plans, supporting structural assessments and ensuring quality control in construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field evaluations of industrial structures
- Develop calculations and analytical models for steel and concrete
- Design rehabilitation or replacement plans for structures
- Specify materials and write technical reports
- Provide technical support and quality control during structural construction
Requirements
- Support field evaluation of existing industrial structures and conduct field evaluations of industrial structures as part of job duties.
- Develop calculations and analytical models in steel and concrete for structural analysis and design.
- Design rehabilitation and/or replacement plans for industrial structures.
- Specify materials, write reports, and provide technical support and quality control for structural construction projects.
- Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Structural Engineering.
- Have between 0 to 3 years of experience in the field of structural engineering.
- Hold an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) license or certification.
- Be familiar with modelling software such as STAAD, which is required.
- Have knowledge of ACI 318, AISC, ASCE-7, and IBC standards, which are required.
- Have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, which is preferred.
- Be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment.
- Possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights to perform fieldwork tasks.
- Be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
- Be able to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks, respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
- Be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
- Adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
- Meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
