Job Description

A Structural Engineer conducts field evaluations of industrial structures, analyzes data, develops models, and designs rehabilitation or replacement plans, supporting structural assessments and ensuring quality control in construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct field evaluations of industrial structures
Develop calculations and analytical models for steel and concrete
Design rehabilitation or replacement plans for structures
Specify materials and write technical reports
Provide technical support and quality control during structural construction

Requirements

Support field evaluation of existing industrial structures and conduct field evaluations of industrial structures as part of job duties.
Develop calculations and analytical models in steel and concrete for structural analysis and design.
Design rehabilitation and/or replacement plans for industrial structures.
Specify materials, write reports, and provide technical support and quality control for structural construction projects.
Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Structural Engineering.
Have between 0 to 3 years of experience in the field of structural engineering.
Hold an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) license or certification.
Be familiar with modelling software such as STAAD, which is required.
Have knowledge of ACI 318, AISC, ASCE-7, and IBC standards, which are required.
Have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, which is preferred.
Be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment.
Possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights to perform fieldwork tasks.
Be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
Be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
Be able to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks, respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
Be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
Adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
Meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
