Job Description

A Structural Engineer conducts field evaluations of industrial structures, analyzes data, develops models, and designs rehabilitation or replacement plans, supporting structural assessments and ensuring quality control in construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field evaluations of industrial structures
  • Develop calculations and analytical models for steel and concrete
  • Design rehabilitation or replacement plans for structures
  • Specify materials and write technical reports
  • Provide technical support and quality control during structural construction

Requirements

  • Support field evaluation of existing industrial structures and conduct field evaluations of industrial structures as part of job duties.
  • Develop calculations and analytical models in steel and concrete for structural analysis and design.
  • Design rehabilitation and/or replacement plans for industrial structures.
  • Specify materials, write reports, and provide technical support and quality control for structural construction projects.
  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Structural Engineering.
  • Have between 0 to 3 years of experience in the field of structural engineering.
  • Hold an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) license or certification.
  • Be familiar with modelling software such as STAAD, which is required.
  • Have knowledge of ACI 318, AISC, ASCE-7, and IBC standards, which are required.
  • Have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, which is preferred.
  • Be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment.
  • Possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights to perform fieldwork tasks.
  • Be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks, respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
  • Be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
  • Adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
  • Meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
