The Instrument Engineer assists in creating and updating process instrumentation project deliverables, conducts site surveys, and prepares technical documentation under supervision, supporting the development of instrumentation systems in industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in generating instrumentation project deliverables for new or updated process instrumentation
Perform project site surveys and walkdowns of existing instrumentation
Develop and prepare as-built or as-found instrumentation documentation
Conduct client documentation searches to find required project documents
Possess a BSc in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
Have a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 3 years of relevant experience in instrumentation or related fields
Be able to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment, including physical mobility on the ground and at heights, and the ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
Be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using the appropriate and required fall protection
Be able to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing the appropriate PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather or steel-toed work boots
Possess the physical ability to position oneself to work in confined spaces
Adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
Meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
Assist with generating instrumentation project deliverables including instrumentation data, sheets, loop drawings, installation details, instrument lists, DCS PLC I/O lists, and P&IDs under supervision
Perform project site surveys of existing instrumentation to be replaced or re-designed, and perform client documentation searches to find required project documents
Develop and prepare as-built or as-found instrumentation documentation, mark up drawings or data sheets for as-found instrumentation and wiring details
Develop instrumentation knowledge skills, project skills, and skills used to generate instrument deliverables, and develop knowledge of industry instrumentation standards
Possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
