Job Description

The role involves ensuring compliance and quality in energy efficiency projects for commercial and industrial properties, focusing on mechanical systems, energy modeling, and regulatory standards, with opportunities for fieldwork and collaboration with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate site conditions of commercial and industrial properties for compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Maintain guidelines for field auditing, project design, product qualification, and implementation to meet program and client needs.
  • Collaborate with field teams to troubleshoot design errors and coordinate with external engineering firms for compliance and sign-off.
  • Collect and analyze mechanical system data to create energy models for client interactions and project implementation.
  • Support project aspects requiring specialized knowledge or permissions related to energy efficiency technologies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Evaluate site conditions of commercial and industrial properties pertaining to all existing mechanical systems for compliance with NYC local laws and regulations including LL84, LL88, LL97, NYCECC 2020 S. C405, and ASHRAE 90.1.
  • Maintain guidelines for field auditing, project design, product qualification, and implementation to comply with program and client needs for the internal Design, Development, and Implementation teams to follow.
  • Work with field team to troubleshoot design errors when requested.
  • Coordinate with external engineering firms to establish compliance walks, get sign off on energy savings data, and stamp documentation around NYC local laws or similar regulations.
  • Collect and analyze mechanical system data in existing site conditions to create energy models during preliminary client interactions and for use in the implementation process.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a similar field, or have 4 years of experience in mechanical design or energy engineering.
  • Have capabilities in AutoCAD or similar design systems and the ability to read and understand blueprint plans.
  • Have deep knowledge of HVAC systems, HVAC controls, BMS Systems, Motors, and VFDs.
  • Possess certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional), or CEA (Certified Energy Auditor), which are considered a plus.
  • Have strong knowledge of energy codes, utility incentive programs, and emissions reporting.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Show attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Have knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
