The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for geothermal and mechanical construction projects, analyzing drawings and specifications, and collaborating with project teams to support project pursuit and execution in the clean energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work to develop accurate cost estimates for geothermal and energy infrastructure projects.
Coordinate pricing and scope alignment with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Perform quantity takeoffs for piping, heat pumps, mechanical equipment, and related components.
Review construction drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and RFP/RFQ documents.
Analyze market conditions and historical cost data to ensure competitive pricing.
Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and constructability considerations.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure smooth transition from estimate to project execution.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
3 to 7 years of mechanical estimating experience, preferably in geothermal or HVAC.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping, and HVAC equipment.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in estimating software, CAD drawings, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Estimated travel requirement up to 75% to work project sites in the greater Northeast Region but not limited to the United States, with lodging travel reimbursement for overnight stays.

Compensation/salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus
Work schedule: Minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime pay for non-exempt employees and additional hours for exempt employees
