Job Description
The FP&A Lead at Bedrock Energy will develop and manage financial planning, project-based accounting, and capital strategies to support the company's growth in geothermal energy deployment, providing strategic insights and building disciplined financial systems in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine financial models, budgets, and forecasts in collaboration with leadership.
- Implement and oversee financial controls, monthly close processes, and variance analysis.
- Assess, negotiate, and optimize equipment financing, leasing, and infrastructure project finance structures.
- Partner with the product team to ensure financial data supports technoeconomic analyses.
- Provide actionable financial insights and reporting to executive leadership for strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in FP A, corporate finance, or investment banking experience in capital-intensive, project-based businesses (strongly preferred).
- Deep experience with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management, with a proven track record of implementing financial systems and controls in a high-growth or scaling environment.
- Experience with project-based accounting and lease accounting practices in line with compliance standards.
- Ability to own and continuously refine the financial model in collaboration with the CEO.
- Experience implementing financial controls, conducting monthly close and variance reviews, and managing monthly and annual budgeting cycles with functional leaders.
- Experience assessing, negotiating, and optimizing equipment financing and leasing arrangements, and leading early-stage exploration of infrastructure project finance structures.
- Ability to partner with product teams to ensure books can be used for streamlined technoeconomic analyses.
- Ability to provide actionable insights to executive leadership on company performance, strategic tradeoffs, and capital allocation.
- Experience owning financial dashboards and reporting to functional decision-makers.
- CPA, CFA, or MBA certification is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated autonomy and proactivity in managing financial tasks and systems.
- Exceptional collaboration skills for partnering with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, and Engineering.
- Clear communication skills for interfacing with investors.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves execution mentality with a bias towards action.
- Proactive and resourceful problem-solver with the ability to drive to consensus while maintaining interpersonal respect and empathy.
- Experience with building FP A functions from the very basics in early-stage startups, including involvement in multiple venture fundraises.
- Familiarity with equipment financing, leasing structures, and infrastructure project finance basics.
- A passion for the company's mission and technology innovation.
