Job Description
The Vehicle Operations Lead at Aurora is responsible for managing and supporting vehicle operations teams, ensuring safety, efficiency, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment focused on self-driving technology and mobility solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of vehicle operators to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
- Establish and promote a safety culture within the vehicle operations team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support Aurora's initiatives and communicate essential information to team members.
- Act as the point of contact for key vehicle operations projects and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Support vehicle testing and operations by becoming certified as a Vehicle Operator.
- Document and deliver performance feedback to team members regularly.
- Ensure compliance with Aurora policies and the Vehicle Operations Manual.
- Represent Aurora as an ambassador when interacting with the public.
- Support and understand major Aurora initiatives and programs related to vehicle operations.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
- Ability to work a scheduled shift from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm CT, including early mornings, late nights, rotating shifts, and weekends
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including travel for up to one month at a time
- Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work flexible schedule including days, nights, or weekends as required
- Safety-focused mindset and ability to lead by example to motivate teams
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Highly organized with strong communication skills
- Complete understanding of risk analysis and management
- Experience leading a team of operators, including documenting and delivering performance feedback regularly through 1-on-1s
- Ability to develop and drive team growth by building on individual strengths and opportunities
- Ability to act as a point of contact for key Vehicle Operations projects and provide regular updates to leadership
- Ability to become certified as a Vehicle Operator to support excess in-vehicle testing and understand the day-to-day responsibilities of direct reports
