Job Description
The Vehicle Operations Lead at Aurora is responsible for managing a team of vehicle operators, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to company policies while supporting vehicle testing and operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of vehicle operators to ensure safety and operational efficiency
- Establish and promote a safety culture within the vehicle operations team
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support Aurora initiatives and communicate essential information to team members
- Act as the point of contact for key vehicle operations projects and provide updates to leadership
- Support vehicle testing by becoming certified as a Vehicle Operator
- Ensure team adherence to policies, procedures, and the Vehicle Operations Manual
- Provide performance feedback and support team development and growth
- Represent Aurora to the public as an ambassador
- Maintain flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime
- Travel up to 50% for operational needs and testing activities
Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver s license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check
- Ability to work a scheduled shift from 1:00pm to 10:00pm CT, including early mornings, late nights, rotating shifts, and weekends
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for up to one month at a time
- Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to lead a team of operators with empathy and establish an inspired safety culture for all in-vehicle teams
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize testing deliverables and assignments to drive efficiency gains through process improvement
- Excellent communication skills, including documenting and delivering constructive and positive performance feedback regularly through 1-on-1s
- Understanding of risk analysis and management
- Ability to act as a point of contact for key Vehicle Operations projects and provide regular updates to leadership
- Ability to become certified as a Vehicle Operator to support excess in-vehicle testing and understand the day-to-day activities of direct reports
- Ability to work flexible schedule including days, nights, or weekends as needed
- Physical ability to support 50% travel and work in various shift times including days, nights, or weekends

Compensation salary range: 80,000 - 105,000 per year
