Job Description
The Aurora Driver role involves safely operating autonomous semi-trucks for testing and commercial operations, monitoring vehicle performance, providing real-time feedback to engineers, and supporting the development of self-driving technology in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely pilot autonomous semi trucks during on-road and closed course testing.
- Monitor the Aurora Driver and platform performance in real-time during testing.
- Log feedback on autonomy and platform performance for engineering analysis.
- Escalate operational issues with suggested solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology and operational changes.
- Work on cross-functional projects to demonstrate positive impact.
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License
- Driving record must pass Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) guidelines
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass DOT physical and meet all DOT qualifications
- Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
- Ability to work night shifts, second and/or third shift, rotating shifts as needed, and work regular overtime and some weekends
- Availability to travel as needed up to 50%
- Must spend up to 80% of shift time in the vehicle
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety policies
- Ability to remain alert and attentive while monitoring the Aurora Driver during extended stretches of autonomy
- Ability to log real-time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing
- Ability to escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
- Ability to work on cross-functional projects as time permits
- Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of how self-driving technology works and understand daily software and operational changes
Benefits & Perks
Hourly wage range of $31.00 - $38.00 per hour
Eligibility for an annual bonus
