Job Description
The Staff Technical Program Manager - Hardware NPI at Aurora is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing hardware product launches, ensuring manufacturing readiness, managing engineering changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new hardware modules like lidar and computers to market in a safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute hardware new product introductions (NPI).
- Manage day-to-day activities for hardware modules such as lidar, computer, and pods to ensure manufacturing readiness.
- Communicate with contract manufacturers and internal teams regarding program schedules and escalate issues as needed.
- Collaborate with development, systems, and safety leads to represent activities in cross-functional meetings.
- Schedule and facilitate meetings with cross-functional partners to resolve manufacturing readiness issues.
- Act as a liaison between manufacturing and development teams regarding product launch activities.
- Track and communicate manufacturing readiness status, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
- Manage hardware change control processes and schedule execution for hardware products.
Requirements
- Experience managing engineering changes in short schedule development cycles.
- Experience with developing safety critical hardware, with bonus points for experience in robotics, automotive, or the aerospace defense industry.
- Experience with launching new hardware products to market and managing hardware product life cycles.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing (MFG) processes.
- Strong PLM experience with tools such as Arena.
- Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheets, MS Project, etc.
- Experience with task management tools such as Jira, Jira Tools, Confluence, etc.
- At least 7 years of experience managing complex hardware development programs and manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing hardware development programs and manufacturing processes in a safety critical hardware industry such as aerospace, defense, automotive, or medical devices.
- Experience with moving prototype products to high volume manufacturing and/or new line bring-up in Asia.
- Experience with the full product lifecycle including development, verification, and market introduction.
