Job Description
The Aurora Driver Systems and Safety Engineering team is seeking a professional to define vehicle behaviors, develop safety use cases, support system architecture requirements, and collaborate across teams to ensure the safe operation of autonomous vehicles within regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Define vehicle behaviors, capabilities, and operational contexts
- Develop Use Cases and Concepts of Operation to support Safety Analysis and requirements development
- Identify applicable policies and regulations in collaboration with subject matter experts
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support system architecture definition
- Develop system-level requirements for autonomous vehicle capabilities and performance metrics
- Perform data analysis to rationalize system requirements and test coverage
- Decompose requirements into sub-systems with traceability
- Support requirement management workflows and tooling
- Facilitate cross-functional development activities and documentation
- Develop verification and validation strategies and demonstrate coverage against requirements
- Explore system deficiencies and propose statistical analysis approaches
- Apply industry, academic, and internal best practices to engineering processes
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field
- Five or more years experience in a safety critical industry with safety-critical software development standards, software safety fault hazard analysis, and requirements-driven software verification and validation strategies
- Experience in Python for engineering and data-driven analysis
- Experience writing testable system-level and software-level requirements
- Experience assessing software design and performing code reviews
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
