Job Description
The Aurora Driver Systems and Safety Engineering team is seeking a professional to define vehicle behaviors, develop safety and operational requirements, analyze system performance, and collaborate across teams to ensure the safe development of autonomous vehicle technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Define vehicle behaviors, capabilities, and operational contexts
- Develop Use Cases and Concepts of Operation to support safety analysis and requirements development
- Identify applicable policies and regulations in collaboration with subject matter experts
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define system architectures and requirements
- Perform detailed data analysis to support system requirements and test coverage
- Decompose requirements into subsystem level with traceability
- Support requirement management workflows and documentation
- Develop verification and validation strategies and demonstrate coverage against requirements
- Explore system deficiencies and propose statistical approaches for coverage
- Apply industry best practices and define new processes to support systems and safety engineering work
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field
- Five or more years of experience in a safety critical industry with safety-critical software development standards, software safety fault hazard analysis, and requirements-driven software verification and validation strategies
- Experience in Python for engineering and data-driven analysis
- Experience writing testable system-level and software-level requirements
- Experience assessing software design and performing code reviews
- Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
