Job Description
The Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack Fleet Intelligence at Aurora is responsible for designing and leading the development of scalable web services and data systems that optimize autonomous vehicle fleets, providing technical leadership and collaborating across teams to improve real-time autonomy and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and drive strategic initiatives for scalable full-stack web services supporting real-time and offline data flows.
- Provide technical leadership and influence best practices across multiple teams in system design, development, and deployment.
- Develop and deploy robust backend services, APIs, and data pipelines to enhance fleet optimization and autonomy.
- Mentor and grow senior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and promoting engineering excellence.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to define technical roadmaps, prioritize projects, and oversee complex project execution.
- Translate operational data and autonomy metrics into actionable insights via operator-facing tools and APIs.
Requirements
- A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of industry experience in software development, with a proven track record of designing, building, and operating large-scale full-stack systems.
- Deep expertise in both front-end and back-end development, including scalable web services, distributed systems, and modern API design.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, driving technical strategy, influencing architectural decisions, and mentoring senior engineers.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively partner with cross-functional teams and present technical solutions to a diverse audience.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, including AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and monitoring alerting systems.
