Job Description
The role involves developing and maintaining backend services for Aurora's autonomous vehicle fleet management platform, focusing on building scalable, reliable cloud-based solutions to support fleet operations, vehicle monitoring, and real-time communication, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services for fleet management and terminal operations.
- Build and maintain cloud-based systems to monitor and manage autonomous vehicle fleets.
- Implement new features and improve existing products related to fleet operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, security, and product teams.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of backend services.
- Integrate real-time vehicle data and support safe autonomous fleet operations.
- Contribute to the end-to-end product lifecycle, from development to post-release support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 6 years of industry experience with a focus on high-availability cloud services.
- Experience building backend services using modern technologies including Golang, Python, C, gRPC, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience working with databases and caches such as Postgres and Redis.
- Strong backend service engineering skills.
- Ability to design complex systems from the ground up, working closely with software, hardware, and infrastructure engineering teams along with other stakeholder teams within Aurora.
- Experience contributing to and evolving team culture around mentorship, feedback, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write effective technical specifications, provide feedback, translate technical concepts into lay terms, and incorporate feedback into efforts.
- Good judgment to balance speed and quality, with a preference for action and a self-starter mentality to thrive in a growing environment.
- Proactive engagement with product lifecycle management, including understanding customer needs, ensuring development stays on course through release and post-release support.
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Experience working with IoT devices and Over-the-Air communication is desirable.
- Experience with fleet management solutions for robots, vehicles, or aerial drones is desirable.
- Experience with external customer-facing software, including production rollout with real customers, is desirable.

Base salary range: 171,000 - 273,000 USD
