This position involves designing plumbing and fire protection systems for various building projects, preparing calculations and drawings, reviewing specifications, and collaborating with clients and project teams. The role also includes site visits, mentoring staff, and participating in project management activities.
Key Responsibilities
Design piping and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems for building projects.
Prepare calculations and production drawings for plumbing and fire protection systems.
Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Specify plumbing and fire protection equipment such as sprinkler, sewerage, and medical gas systems.
Interface with clients and project team members during meetings and project coordination.
Conduct field site visits during construction to monitor project progress and compliance.
Research and respond to emergent technical issues as needed.
Lead or participate in value engineering sessions with the architectural and engineering team.
Mentor and oversee activities of less experienced staff.
Requirements
Current PE or FPE license in the United States required.
Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
Experience in designing plumbing and fire protection systems, including performing calculations using correct parameters and preparing production drawings from schematic to construction design phases.
Ability to specify plumbing and fire protection equipment such as sprinkler, sewerage, and medical gas systems.
Experience reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs, specifically Revit.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Willingness to perform overtime work and travel as required.
Participation or leadership in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
Conducting field site visits during the construction phase, including physically walking through the site independently.
Ability to interface effectively with clients and project team members by attending Owner, Architect, Construction Administration (OAC) meetings.
Willingness to research independently and respond to emergent issues as needed.
May be required to direct activities of less experienced staff.
Must be willing to perform other duties as required.
