Job Description

The role involves managing the global supply chain for complex optical hardware components and contract manufacturing, ensuring reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective production from prototype to scale, while collaborating with engineering, legal, and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire supply chain for optical subsystems and components, ensuring reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand technology requirements and develop sourcing strategies.
  • Manage relationships with optical component suppliers and contract manufacturers, overseeing their sub-tier supply bases.
  • Develop and negotiate pricing, terms, and legal agreements with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Track market conditions, monitor technology roadmaps, and identify supply and demand challenges and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, with a proven track record of managing global supply chains.
  • Deep understanding of optical systems and manufacturing, including components like lenses, mirrors, lasers, photodetectors, and processes for coatings and precision assembly.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Contract Manufacturers for the production of complex, high-reliability products.
  • Strong analytical and cost modeling skills, with the ability to perform detailed should-cost analysis.
  • Exceptional ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Legal, and Finance.
  • Track record of managing the entire supply chain for optical subsystems, including development from initial prototype builds through to production readiness.
  • Experience in developing and executing sourcing strategies for highly specialized optical components and managing relationships with optical suppliers and Contract Manufacturers.
  • Ability to accurately capture Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE), tooling, capital equipment, and material costs.
  • Experience negotiating competitive pricing, terms, and conditions with component suppliers and Contract Manufacturers to secure supply and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Partnering with Legal teams to draft and finalize legal agreements such as Purchase Agreements and Statements of Work that secure pricing, capacity, and quality commitments.
  • Monitoring global market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identifying supply and demand challenges and opportunities within the optical and manufacturing industries.
