Job Description
A Software Engineer responsible for integrating and maintaining hardware components such as sensors and embedded devices in autonomous trucks, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of the vehicle's hardware-software interface.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate core hardware components such as Lidars, Radars, Cameras, and embedded devices into the Aurora Driver software stack
- Support the initial software bring-up of new vehicle platforms, ensuring onboard compute and sensors are correctly configured and communicating
- Optimize onboard software performance to efficiently utilize CPU, GPU, and memory resources
- Develop and refine software tools to monitor real-time hardware health and telemetry
- Utilize Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments to test and verify code changes before deployment
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in C programming language.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and memory management, demonstrated through academic or project-based experience.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant hands-on experience involving hardware-software interaction, which can be demonstrated through multiple internships, significant academic research, or professional work.
- Experience working in a Linux environment with an understanding of command-line tools and system basics.
- Familiarity with the basics of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, or serial communication.
- Ability to write and maintain C interfaces and drivers that integrate Lidars, Radars, Cameras, and other embedded devices into the Aurora Driver stack.
- Participation in the initial software bring-up of new vehicle platforms, ensuring onboard compute and sensors are correctly configured and communicating.
- Ability to profile and optimize code to ensure efficient use of limited CPU, GPU, and memory resources on the vehicle.
- Development and refinement of software tools that track real-time hardware health and telemetry to ensure safe fleet operations.
- Experience utilizing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments to test and verify code changes against real-world hardware before deployment.

Base salary range: $116,000 - $174,000 per year
