Job Description

The Senior Staff Vehicle Hardware Verification and Validation Engineer Lead at Aurora is responsible for defining and executing comprehensive hardware testing strategies for autonomous vehicle systems, ensuring the technical integrity of vehicle hardware through collaboration with cross-functional teams and overseeing data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and implement vehicle hardware verification and validation test strategies and methodologies.
  • Lead and coordinate vehicle-level hardware testing across autonomous vehicle systems and platform integrations.
  • Establish and improve standards for test execution, documentation, and data collection.
  • Act as the technical leader for vehicle hardware testing activities and troubleshoot complex system failures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on test requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Oversee data analysis, reporting, and presentation of test results to senior leadership.
  • Drive the development and improvement of internal testing tools and hardware data collection equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in hardware testing, verification, and validation, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead role, within the automotive or aerospace industry.
  • Deep understanding of V V processes, testing methodologies such as statistical analysis, fault injection, hardware in the loop, RCCA process, hands-on problem solving, and the development lifecycle for safety-critical hardware systems.
  • Experience with utilizing test automation tools, and the ability to work with software development teams to define and deliver relevant software test tools for hardware functional verification.
  • Experience with sensing and data collection, including accelerometers, strain gauges, force transducers, fleet operations, data logging equipment, and signal conditioning.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with engineering programs for requirement management and work tracking such as JAMA and JIRA.
  • Working experience with the latest automotive communication protocols.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical information to diverse audiences.
