Job Description
The Senior Staff Tech Lead Manager for the Performance Engineering Optimization team at Aurora is responsible for leading a team to develop tools and processes that enhance software performance, reduce latency, and improve hardware utilization for autonomous vehicle systems, while collaborating across engineering domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Performance Engineering Optimization (PEO) team.
- Define technical strategy, roadmap, and ensure milestone execution for performance optimization initiatives.
- Develop and contribute to tooling for performance data collection, diagnosis, and visualization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve onboard software latency and hardware utilization.
- Drive rapid performance experimentation using data-driven feedback loops.
- Oversee the delivery of projects related to performance tooling and data pipelines.
- Guide engineers in diagnosing and addressing software and hardware performance issues.
Requirements
- Strong C programming and software design skills on performance critical code.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience.
- Experience and knowledge of Linux fundamentals.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and solid grasp of performance tuning Linux based soft real time applications.
- Experience with modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with CUDA and/or GPU Profiling.
