Job Description

The Senior Staff TLM Electrical Engineer at Aurora leads a team responsible for developing and integrating electrical hardware for LiDAR, compute, and other hardware products, collaborating across teams to ensure performance, safety, and manufacturability in the development of self-driving technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers responsible for developing electronics for LiDAR, Compute, and hardware products.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to gather requirements, define hardware architecture, and deliver hardware products that meet performance and product metrics.
  • Guide the team in building, integrating, testing, and debugging hardware products using software tools and advanced test equipment.
  • Develop and mature electrical engineering processes that adhere to safety, quality, and execution standards.
  • Partner with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature high-quality electrical designs for manufacturing, including supporting test infrastructure development.
  • Define build and test processes for product development and oversee product launch activities.
  • Manage project deliverables in partnership with program management.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes in collaboration with supply chain and NPI teams.
  • Plan and develop the team’s capabilities to meet future product roadmaps.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware.
  • 4 years of direct, personnel leadership of electrical engineering teams including hiring, establishing best practices, managing performance and growth.
  • Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics.
  • High proficiency and ability to analyze systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI EMC constraints.
  • Extensive experience with hardware productization at system, board, and chip level implementation.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage Power Signal simulation and emulation input.
  • Experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and E-loads.
  • Partnering closely with program management to manage project deliverables.
  • Partnering closely with supply chain and new product introduction to identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes.
  • Ability to plan and promote a forward-looking outlook to hire and develop the team to meet future product roadmap.
  • Experience with hardware product development including defining build, test, and extensive prior experience launching products.
