Job Description

The Senior Staff TLM, Electrical Engineering at Aurora leads a team responsible for developing and integrating electrical hardware for LiDAR, compute, and other hardware products, collaborating across teams to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient product development and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers responsible for developing electronics for LiDAR, Compute, and hardware products.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to gather requirements, define hardware architecture, and deliver hardware products that meet performance and product metrics.
  • Guide and oversee the building, integration, testing, and debugging of hardware products using software tools and advanced test equipment.
  • Develop and mature electrical engineering processes to ensure safety, quality, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Partner with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to develop high-quality electrical designs and support test infrastructure development.
  • Define build, test, and launch strategies leveraging deep product development expertise.
  • Manage project deliverables in partnership with program management.
  • Identify, qualify, and collaborate with suppliers, parts, and processes in coordination with supply chain and NPI teams.
  • Plan and develop the team’s future hiring and skill development to align with product roadmap.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware.
  • A minimum of 4 years of direct, personnel leadership experience of electrical engineering teams, including hiring, establishing best practices, managing performance, and growth.
  • Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high-speed signaling, grounding, and analog electronics.
  • High proficiency and ability to analyze systems for balancing electro-mechanical and EMI/EMC constraints.
  • Extensive experience with hardware productization at system, board, and chip level implementation.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, and leverage Power Signal simulation and emulation input.
  • Experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, and E-loads.
  • Partnering closely with program management to manage project deliverables.
  • Partnering closely with supply chain and new product introduction to identify and qualify suppliers, parts, and processes.
  • Ability to plan and promote a forward-looking outlook to hire and develop the team to meet future product roadmap.
  • Knowledge of automotive requirements, safety framework ISO26262, and qualification processes.
  • Experience with both rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing.
  • Programming and scripting experience in C, Python, or equivalent.
  • FPGA and ASIC design experience.
