Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will support low-volume, high-complexity vehicle and electronic product manufacturing, focusing on process development, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in a multidisciplinary environment to ensure efficient and quality production.
Key Responsibilities
- Support low-volume, high-complexity vehicle integration and electronic manufacturing processes.
- Conduct multidisciplinary problem-solving activities to address prototype and production manufacturing challenges.
- Create manufacturing models, parts, assemblies, drawings, and shop documentation to support process design and development.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Prepare detailed layouts of facilities, workcenters, and equipment.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to develop and execute APQP-compliant manufacturing plans.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events.
- Coordinate manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including training and evaluating team performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of prior relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with IATF 16949 2016 Automotive Quality Management Systems or similar standards such as AS9100D 2016, ISO 13485 2016, or ISO 9001 2015.
- Green Belt certification or demonstrated experience using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies such as DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, QRQC, or 4A.
- Knowledge of and experience with AIAG's Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) approach.
- Experience with advanced CAD and PLM suites.
- Experience in interpreting and creating technical drawings, datasheets, schematics, and system specifications.
- Experience in developing and extracting requirements.
- Experience in leading root cause corrective action investigations.
- Experience in creating training material or teaching training.
- Basic electrical engineering knowledge such as basic circuit analysis.
- Basic mechanical engineering knowledge such as tolerance stack-ups.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment including mechanical, electrical, optical, embedded software, and firmware engineering.
- Ability to interface and coordinate with Technical Program Management, Manufacturing Production Management and Technicians, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain personnel.
- Self-motivated and self-sufficient work ethic.
- Willingness to work on-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with standard work days Monday through Friday and occasional weekend work depending on business conditions.
- Ability to quickly come-up-to speed on new technologies and engineering challenges.
- Ability to conduct multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and propose solutions to prototype and production manufacturing challenges.
- Experience creating manufacturing models, parts, assemblies, drawings, shop drawings, work instructions, standard operating procedures, forms, records, checklists, process sequence routing, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), PFMEAs, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Experience preparing and maintaining detailed layouts of buildings, workcenters, and equipment.
- Experience supporting development and execution of APQP-compliant program plans.
- Experience supporting and guiding manufacturing teams through all phases of APQP, including designing and developing manufacturing processes, validating processes through MSAs, production trial runs, Run Rate, and PPAPs.
- Experience leading or participating in Kaizen activities for continuous process improvement.

Salary range of $115,000 - $184,000 per year
