Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the design, development, and manufacturing processes of complex vehicle and electronic products in a low-volume production environment, ensuring quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement through multidisciplinary problem-solving and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support low-volume, high-complexity vehicle integration and electronic manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary problem-solving activities to address prototype and production manufacturing challenges.
  • Create manufacturing models, parts, assemblies, drawings, and shop documentation to support process design and development.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Prepare detailed layouts of buildings, workcenters, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to develop and execute APQP-compliant program plans.
  • Guide manufacturing teams through all phases of APQP, including process validation and PPAPs.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launches of new or revised products, including training and evaluating team performance.

Requirements

  • Support of a low-volume, high-complexity production environment spanning vehicle integration and electronic, photronic, electromechanical, and wire harness products.
  • Self-motivated and self-sufficient individual capable of working in a multidisciplinary environment including mechanical, electrical, optical, embedded software, and firmware engineering.
  • Ability to interface and coordinate with Technical Program Management, Manufacturing Production Management and Technicians, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain personnel.
  • Ability to quickly come-up-to speed on new technologies and engineering challenges.
  • Experience conducting multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and proposing solutions to prototype and production manufacturing challenges, including Design for Excellence (DfX) inputs such as Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Assembly (DfA), Design for Cost (DfC), Design for Procurement (DfP), Design for Inspection and Test (DfI T), and Design for Service, Repair, and Maintenance (DfS R M).
  • Experience creating manufacturing models, parts, assemblies, and drawings to support process design and development.
  • Experience creating shop drawings to clarify design intent, document, and annotate tooling.
  • Experience creating and maintaining work instructions, standard operating procedures, forms, records, checklists, process sequence routing, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), PFMEAs, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining detailed layouts of buildings, workcenters, and equipment.
  • Ability to work with Program Managers to support development and execution of APQP-compliant program plans.
  • Experience supporting and guiding the manufacturing team through all phases of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), particularly designing and developing manufacturing processes, validating processes through MSAs, production trial runs, Run Rate, and PPAPs, and developing control plans.
  • Experience leading or participating in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous process and product improvement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
