Job Description

The Project Engineer will lead the manufacturing launch and integration of autonomous vehicle hardware in a high-volume production environment, coordinating cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure quality, timelines, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing launch of new or revised autonomous vehicle products, including setting goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Monitor and enforce production timelines, quality standards, and output to ensure supplier facilities and deliverables meet Aurora's requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure design intent is understood and operationally executed at scale.
  • Communicate progress, make reports, and present findings related to manufacturing and supplier activities.
  • Guide supplier-related projects concerning product policies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary problem-solving activities and propose solutions for prototype and production manufacturing challenges.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of prior relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience coordinating the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Experience monitoring and enforcing timelines, quality, and output to ensure supplier facilities and deliverables meet Aurora's timelines, expectations, and requirements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, including making progress reports and presenting findings.
  • Experience guiding supplier-related projects related to products, policies, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience conducting multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and proposing solutions to prototype and production manufacturing challenges, such as Design for Manufacturing Assembly (DfMA), Design for Service, Repair, and Maintenance (DfS R M), and Design for Excellence (DfX) input.
  • Experience interpreting technical requirements.
  • Experience leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
  • Experience with advanced CAD, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software suites.
  • Ability to work on-site in Livonia Detroit Metro with occasional travel to Pittsburgh.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties as required in a manufacturing environment (implied by the role, though not explicitly stated).
