Job Description
The Hardware Technician will assemble self-driving vehicles and their sub-assemblies in a manufacturing environment, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to procedures while contributing to process improvements and professional development in autonomous vehicle technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble self-driving vehicles and their sub-assemblies following quality standards
- Operate within the Aurora Manufacturing Quality Management System (QMS)
- Adhere to safety standards and meet internal deadlines with minimal oversight
- Create and refine build documentation for manufacturing processes
- Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge
- Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
Requirements
- Candidates must demonstrate the capacity, resources, and motivation to build self-driving trucks with top-level integrations.
- Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with a background in technical trade school or other educational equivalent.
- Familiarity with ISO-9001 or standardized process environments is preferred.
- Candidates should be able to assemble wiring harnesses, read wiring schematics and layouts, and have experience with various software tools and standard documentation practices.
- Basic proficiency in both Windows and Mac operating systems is necessary.
- Candidates must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Candidates should possess a customer-focused mindset regarding delivering quality and be willing to reason, isolate, and resolve issues.
- Physical abilities required include handling, feeling, and controlling objects; grasping, moving, and assembling small items; standing, walking, climbing, carrying materials; bending at the waist; reaching; kneeling for extended periods; ascending and descending ladders, scaffolds, and stairs that are 20 to 25 feet high; and pulling or pushing wheeled equipment to build locations.
- Candidates must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted and typically lift 20 pounds or less.
- Candidates must be able to work in environments with exposure to moving parts and tools such as impact tools, drills, and cutting equipment, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) daily.
