Job Description

The Hardware Technician will assemble self-driving vehicles and their sub-assemblies in a manufacturing environment, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to procedures, while contributing to process improvements and professional development in autonomous vehicle technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble self-driving vehicles and their sub-assemblies following quality standards
  • Operate within the Aurora Manufacturing Quality Management System (QMS) and adhere to safety standards
  • Meet internal production deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Create and refine build documentation for manufacturing processes
  • Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to vehicle assembly and wiring
  • Handle and assemble small components, including wiring harnesses and mechanical parts

Requirements

  • Candidates must demonstrate the capacity, resources, and motivation to build self-driving trucks with top-level integrations.
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with a background in technical trade school or other educational equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001 or standardized process environments is preferred.
  • Ability to assemble wiring harnesses, read wiring schematics and layouts, and experience with various software tools and standard documentation practices.
  • Basic proficiency in both Windows and Mac operating systems is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Possess a customer-focused mindset regarding delivering quality and be willing to reason, isolate, and resolve issues.
  • Physical abilities to handle, feel, and control objects, as well as grasp, move, and assemble small items.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, carry materials, bend at the waist, reach, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs that are 20 to 25 feet high.
  • Maximum unassisted lift of 50 pounds and a typical lift of 20 pounds or less.
  • Ability to pull or push wheeled equipment to build locations.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) daily is mandatory.
  • Exposure to moving parts and tools such as impact tools, drills, and cutting equipment.
  • Participation in training sessions, including on-the-job mentorship or traditional classroom environments, to enhance skills and knowledge.
