Job Description

The Fleet Operations Technician at Aurora is responsible for maintaining and repairing autonomous vehicle fleet, performing diagnostics, routine OEM maintenance, and collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure vehicle safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain fleet vehicles through routine OEM maintenance and complex repairs
  • Perform diagnostics, vehicle upgrades, and test plans in collaboration with Vehicle Operations, Software, and Hardware teams
  • Document and communicate repair findings and escalate issues as needed
  • Build and set up mechanical and electrical test rigs for testing across multiple teams
  • Assemble parts or jigs for prototypes and perform mechanical fabrication
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements to workshop standards, protocols, and processes

Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years OEM technician experience or related experience in heavy vehicle maintenance
  • Intermediate diagnostics skills using OEM diagnostic tools, methodologies, and a logical troubleshooting approach
  • Valid US driver s license
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic workshop etiquette and safety procedures, with safety consciousness and knowledge of general shop safety
  • Basic Knowledge of DOT and CVSA rules and requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and/or sit frequently throughout the day
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and highly organized
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Availability to work day or night shifts, including early mornings or late nights, on rotating shifts
  • Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Willingness to collaborate with Vehicle Operations, Software, and Hardware teams performing diagnostics, vehicle upgrades, and repairs
  • Proficiency in performing routine OEM maintenance, complex mechanical and electrical repairs, and documenting findings
  • Experience assembling or building parts or jigs for prototypes, including proficiency with mechanical fabrication tools such as drill presses, saws, and hand tools
  • Experience building and setting up test rigs for mechanical and electrical tests across multiple teams
  • Ability to create and implement processes and suggestions to improve workshop standards, protocols, and processes
