Job Description

The Fleet Operations Technician at Aurora is responsible for maintaining and repairing autonomous vehicle fleets, performing diagnostics, routine OEM maintenance, and collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure vehicle performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain fleet vehicles through routine OEM maintenance and complex mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Perform diagnostics, test-plans, and vehicle upgrades in collaboration with Vehicle Operations, Software, and Hardware teams
  • Document and communicate repair findings and escalate data or issues as needed
  • Build and set up test rigs for mechanical and electrical testing across multiple teams
  • Assemble or build parts and prototypes using mechanical fabrication tools
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements to workshop standards, protocols, and processes

Requirements

  • At least 1-2 years OEM technician experience or related experience in heavy vehicle maintenance
  • Intermediate diagnostics skills using OEM diagnostic tools, methodologies, and a logical troubleshooting approach
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic workshop etiquette and safety procedures, with safety consciousness and knowledge of general shop safety
  • Basic Knowledge of DOT and CVSA rules and requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and/or sit frequently throughout the day
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and highly organized
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Available to work day or night shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and rotating shifts
  • Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Willingness to perform routine OEM maintenance, complex mechanical and electrical repairs, and collaborate with hardware and vehicle operations teams
  • Capable of assembling or building parts or jigs for prototypes, with proficiency in mechanical fabrication tools such as drill presses, saws, and hand tools
  • Experience with testing procedures, building and setting up test rigs for mechanical and electrical tests across multiple teams
  • Ability to provide feedback and create or implement processes and suggestions to improve workshop standards, protocols, and processes

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour, with eligibility for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits
Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00am - 8:00pm CT, with ability to work early mornings, late nights, rotating shifts, overtime, and some weekends
