Job Description
A Technical Project Manager in the Power Energy group responsible for leading multidisciplinary utility-scale renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, battery storage, and transmission, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from scope definition to construction support and closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the project lifecycle from scope definition, proposals, schedules, risk management, and cost control to project turnover.
- Drive technical delivery by coordinating and reviewing civil, structural, electrical, HV, collection, interconnection, and studies work to ensure compliance with standards and constructability.
- Manage quality compliance through QA/QC plans, submittals, RFIs, and document control, and ensure environmental permitting and interconnection requirements are integrated.
- Perform construction support activities including site visits, reviewing shop drawings and test reports, supporting FAT/SAT, energization, punch-list closure, and lessons learned.
- Coordinate internal engineers, designers, external partners, EPCs, subs, and vendors to align deliverables and mitigate risks.
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of experience delivering power energy projects in consulting, owner’s engineer, or EPCM roles spanning utility-scale wind, solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), high-voltage substations, and transmission.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; multi-state licensure is a plus.
- Project management skills including owning scope, schedule, and budget, and driving engineering from early studies and permits through construction support and closeout.
- Experience in leading scope definition, proposals Level of Effort (LOE), scheduling, risk registers, change management, and cost control from feasibility to project turnover.
- Ability to coordinate and review civil, structural, electrical, power control (PC), high-voltage (HV), collection, interconnection, and studies work to ensure designs meet NEC, NESC, IEEE, ASCE, client standards, and constructability requirements.
- Experience managing quality compliance including QA/QC plans, submittals, RFIs, and document control.
- Experience ensuring environmental permitting and interconnection requirements are integrated into project planning.
- Experience performing site visits, reviewing shop drawings and test reports, supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), energization, punch-list closure, and lessons learned.
- Experience coordinating internal engineers, designers, external partners such as EPCs, specialty subcontractors, and equipment vendors to align deliverables and mitigate risk.
- Working knowledge of interconnection studies and design coordination, including familiarity with ETAP, SKM, PSSE, PSCAD, PLS-CADD, POLE, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with owner’s-rep or owner’s engineer roles and utility interfaces, ISO RTO processes, constructability reviews, commissioning plans, and startup energization procedures.
- Knowledge of procurement workflows and major equipment modules such as trackers, inverters, transformers, breakers, and relays.
- Ability to perform site visits, review shop drawings and test reports, and support FAT, SAT, energization, punch-list closure, and lessons learned.
- Familiarity with project cost control, risk management, and change management processes.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary work across civil, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Excellent communication and team management skills to coordinate internal and external project stakeholders.
