Job Description

The Lead Electrical Engineer at Atwell, LLC, is responsible for managing electrical design projects within the energy sector, including oil, natural gas, CO2, hydrogen, and RNG pipelines and facilities. The role involves technical leadership, project coordination, client communication, and overseeing engineering efforts to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise project teams on electrical engineering assignments.
  • Provide technical guidance and develop design modifications based on client requests.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Manage engineering activities for pipeline and facility design in energy projects.
  • Review and comment on design submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Manage external engineering firms and subcontractors to achieve high-quality project execution.
  • Identify and address project risks, issues, and impacts related to safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with various internal departments and support procurement processes.
  • Stay updated on industry technologies, standards, and regulatory conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Petroleum, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing engineering activities related to design for major Oil & Gas energy projects, including pipelines and facilities throughout the US.
  • Ability to provide engineering technical input into projects at various stages from feasibility and preliminary to detailed design.
  • Experience coordinating engineering design efforts with EPC or external consultants and reviewing and commenting on design submittals.
  • Experience managing and ensuring all project deliverables meet project specifications.
  • Experience managing external engineering firms, subcontractors, and various engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, structural, etc.
  • Ability to identify critical risks, issues, and impacts of projects, specifically regarding adherence to corporate health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Experience reviewing and monitoring contractors' progress and project milestones.
  • Ability to assist in procurement processes, including running RFPs and managing subcontractor relationships.
  • Willingness to travel when necessary.
  • Strong communication skills to serve as a liaison between clients and project team members.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and assist assigned project team members and foster teamwork.
  • Ability to establish personal networks and participate in professional societies and trade associations.
  • Experience working closely with other energy teams within the organization to leverage expertise and share resources.
