The Survey Party Chief is responsible for leading field survey activities, including topographic, boundary, route, and construction surveys, ensuring safety, accuracy, and proper equipment maintenance while supervising survey crew members primarily in West Texas.
Key Responsibilities
Perform topographic, mapping, boundary, route, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
Utilize, maintain, and calibrate surveying equipment such as total stations, RTK systems, and data collectors.
Lead and supervise survey crew members, evaluate survey progress, and ensure adherence to procedures.
Maintain detailed field notes, create sketches, drawings, and capture site photographs.
Ensure all survey data is collected accurately and thoroughly, including downloading and recording data daily.
Manage and maintain survey equipment, vehicles, and laptops in optimal condition.
Assist with training new crew members and support their professional development.
Requirements
3-5 years of survey experience as a Party Chief
A strong background in surveying techniques and equipment operation
Experience in all aspects of pipeline surveying
Proficiency in maintaining and using various surveying tools, with Trimble preferred
Leadership skills to guide survey party members
Exceptional documentation and reporting abilities
Diligence in equipment maintenance and calibration
Hold a valid Driver's License
Pass drug screening
Ability to perform topographic surveys, mapping surveys, boundary surveys, route surveys including pipelines and transmission lines, construction staking, and as-built surveys
Ability to utilize and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations, automatic levels, Trimble RTK systems, data collectors, and other specialized tools
Ability to maintain detailed and organized field notes, create field sketches, draw isometric drawings, and capture site photographs in accordance with standard procedures
Ability to ensure all surveying equipment is in optimal working condition, with timely calibration and adjustments as needed
Ability to collect and document survey data accurately, thoroughly, and comprehensively using assigned survey equipment
Ability to download data, record notes, sketches, pictures, and other documentation at the end of each workday
Ability to enter time, expenses, safety documents, and other administrative records as required
Willingness to assist with crew member's new hire training plan, career planning, and continuous professional development
