Job Description
The Survey Crew Chief leads field surveying operations for land development projects, utilizing advanced equipment to ensure precise data collection, overseeing team activities, and maintaining safety and quality standards to support the company's diverse construction and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations for boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
- Operate survey equipment such as Trimble total stations, GPS, and data collectors to collect accurate data.
- Establish and locate vertical and horizontal control points with precision.
- Record detailed field notes and prepare accurate as-built documentation.
- Maintain and service survey equipment and company-provided vehicles.
- Guide team members through survey layout and setup tasks.
- Solve on-site challenges and interpret plans to ensure project accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, inspectors, and engineers.
- Follow safety protocols and quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- 10 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
- Proven expertise in performing construction staking, ALTA NSPS Land Title, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys
- Experience operating Trimble total stations, GPS, and data collectors (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong communication skills with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders
- A proactive approach to solving problems and ensuring work is done correctly
- Willingness to travel overnight occasionally (preferred but not mandatory)
